5 Earth Day Activities in the Bay

We live in a beautiful part of the world, a world that needs us to take care of it as much as it takes care of us! Show Mother Earth a little love this weekend by getting involved in these local Earth Day Activities:

1. Take part in the San Francisco street festival.

Featuring top notch entertainment, dynamic panel discussions and speakers at their ‘Eco Teach In’ section, organic celebrity chef showcase, organic and vegan food courts, wine and beer gardens, clean energy zone, cutting edge earth friendly products, an electric vehicle showcase, kids zone and more.

2. Want to get your hands dirty? Volunteer for the Aquarium of the Bay's beach cleanup.

Join dedicated volunteers to pick up everyday items like straws, wrappers, cigarette butts, and other plastic trash from harming our ecosystem. Bonus: each volunteer will receive a complimentary pass to Aquarium of the Bay.

3. Make your voice heard! Join one of these local marches with the Peoples Climate Movement.

Stand up for our communities and climate by demanding action from leaders in Congress.

4. Let your creative side out at the Thoreau Center for Sustainability's Art-A-Thon.

A 10-hour art- and music-making marathon to benefit underprivileged ArtSeed students. Come any time to see artists, veterans, foster children, and others sharing their stories!

5. Are jewelry and gifts more your thing? Shop the From the Earth With Love event.

This pop-up will exhibit nature's influence on creativity, showcasing six different artists. The opening reception on Friday from 4-10 will have complimentary beverages, and the Garden Party on Saturday from 1-4pm will have tea and feature succulent and flower arrangements.

Can't make it out this weekend? Here are three organizations making a real difference that you can donate to:

A not-for-profit company that is San Francisco’s sole supplier of recycled, reusable and remanufactured building and landscaping materials.

A coalition of environmentalists and ranchers that preserve farms and ranches against development, ensuring agricultural use and stunning landscapes for generations to come.

The nation's largest nonprofit environmental law organization, fighting for justice and the promise of a healthy world for all. They represent all clients, large and small, free of charge!
